Wargames Rules: Age of Honor
Age of Honor is the digital expansion module and scenario book for Age of Eagles II (Napoleonic Fire & Fury), covering the "Lace Wars" from the age of Marlborough and Villars to Frederick the Great and Marshal Saxe. It provides all the necessary rules changes to convert the core Napoleonic system to 18th-century warfare in less than a page.
The system is designed for "big battles" where the player controls divisions rather than individual battalions. It includes eight pages of regimental data concerning all the forces that fought during the period from the War of the Spanish Succession through to the War of the Bavarian Succession. The expansion includes sixteen historical scenarios, including Seven Years' War masterpieces such as Kolin, Leuthen, Zorndorf, Minden, Kunersdorf, and Torgau.
The rules focus on the grand tactical experience, using a "Tempo" and activation system that reflects the friction of command. While originally designed for 15mm, the system is highly adaptable to other scales, making it a viable option for massed 6mm engagements where brigade-level integrity is paramount.
What do you think?
I would love to hear your opinion on these rules! Do you use them for the Seven Years War? How do you find they handle the 6mm scale? Please leave your thoughts in the comments below.
