On the Workbench
A quick dispatch to show what is currently occupying the desk.
With the massive order of painted Prussian and Austrian forces currently marching from Mersey Wargames, the Muskets & Magnification workshop has officially shifted its focus to logistics and layout. To ensure our 6mm armies look unified on the tabletop, a critical supply drop from Pendraken Miniatures has just landed.
To conform to our grand-tactical ruleset, I have picked up a vital selection of MDF bases to distinguish our army structures at a glance:
- 60x30mm Rectangles: Our absolute project standard. These will host our 24-figure Baccus infantry battalions and 12-figure cavalry stands.
- 60x30mm Ovals: A sleek, stylistic choice to help separate military bases from civilian and animal bases.
- 60x40mm Rectangles: Providing the necessary footprint to deploy our 3-gun artillery batteries with their crews and limbers.
Tracking tactical friction and stamina on a beautiful 6mm game map can easily become cluttered. To solve this, I’ve included Pendraken's clever MDF dice frames:
- Single Dice Frames (x20): Used for disorder
- Triple Dice Frames (x7): Used to show casualties
The final phase of preparation involves the finishing touches. A fresh pot of Lime Green which will provide a base colour for the bases. Gloss Varnish and Matt Varnish will ensure the coats are fully protected for heavy campaign deployment.
