Third Silesian War (1756–1763)

"The Seven Years War: A Global Conflict on a European Scale"

The Third Silesian War, better known as the Seven Years War, is the definitive climax of this project. It represents the ultimate test of the Prussian military state against a massive coalition of European powers. For the wargamer, this is the era of tactical perfection, desperate "Leuthen-style" manoeuvres, and the introduction of the Russian steamroller into the theatre.

This phase of the project focuses on the high-water marks of linear warfare. Using Baccus 6mm, we can represent the vast, multi-corps engagements where tens of thousands of figures faced off across the hills of Bohemia and the plains of Saxony.

Research & Primary Sources

Historical rigour is maintained through the intensive study of:

  • Horace St Paul: His detailed journals and topographical observations provide the "ground-truth" for our Austrian movements and camp layouts.
  • Christopher Duffy: Used for definitive maps and the intricate regimental histories of the Prussian, Austrian, and Russian forces.
  • Technical Standards: The 24-figure infantry and 12-figure cavalry standards are strictly applied to ensure the massive scale of these battles is visually coherent.
